Description

Venusstraat is located in the historic city centre, surrounded by charming squares, monumental buildings and atmospheric streets. Top museums, theatres, exclusive boutiques and gourmet restaurants are within walking distance. The neighbourhood exudes history and elegance, with architecture dating back to the 16th century. A lively yet peaceful environment, ideal for those who want to combine culture, style and comfort.

This impressive city palace, built around 1560, is located in the heart of Antwerp. The property is part of Venushof and house De Sichel and has been home to several mayors over the centuries. Their coats of arms still adorn the stained-glass windows of the great hall. Since 2012, it has been owned by the Hollandse Club.

The monumental façade with natural stone details and balcony leads to an imposing entrance hall around an 18th-century colonnade. Inside, there are several salons with original parquet floors, marble fireplaces, wall paintings and stained glass windows.

The building has a professional kitchen with a utility room, separate ladies' and gentlemen's toilets, various storage rooms and a basement with three rooms. The main hall, the Louis XVI hall and the winter garden, together with the bar and the salon, offer countless possibilities for dinners, meetings and cultural events.

In the winter garden, a commemorative plaque honours Mr Warmenbol, the visionary who had the building restored in 1952 using original materials. The spacious patio, surrounded by sculptures and an 18th-century colonnade, is a unique eye-catcher.
At the rear is a spacious city garden in brick and sandstone, an oasis of tranquillity in the middle of the city. This city palace combines historical value with functional layout: a rare piece of Antwerp heritage, without renovation obligation.

owner speaks out

The Hollandse Club, founded in 1879, settled in this special piece of Antwerp heritage in 1964 and expanded it in 2012 with the building behind it. Here we organised dinners, lectures and cultural gatherings. Thanks to our own location, we were never dependent on external facilities, something our members have always been proud of.
